I'm Stephanie, brand and website designer with a love for helping women build their dream business. I'm here to help you get get that custom look for your business - without the custom price.
What is a brand? Don’t I just need a logo? This is what you may be thinking while starting your business. I mean, there is already so much to think about, that one more thing just might make you go crazy!
But, here’s the thing. Your brand is so much more than your logo. It’s the heart, soul, and story of your business. It’s what makes you stand out in your market. Your brand is not just your logo, it’s a combination of your business’ mission, values, and more to create a genuine connection with your audience.
There are two key components to creating a one-of-a-kind brand that completely represents your one-of-a-kind business.
Now, as I said before, your brand is not just your logo. Building your brand is like writing a book. It doesn’t matter what the cover looks like, if your story is all over the place and confusing, your reader is going to be lost and maybe lose interest. That’s the same with your brand. You can’t just put a pretty logo on it and call it a day.
You need to create a cohesive brand message that encompasses your why, vision, mission, differentiators, and more. You’re going to dig into the core of your business to define why you do what you do, who you do it for, why you are different from the others, what value you provide to your clients. While doing all this background work may not seem like the most exciting and glamorous way to spend your day, you will be so glad you did! Once you have a solid brand message, you can begin to work on the visual aspects.
Starting on the visual side of your brand is where things start to get exciting. This is where you see your brand really start coming to life. You can begin creating your logo, colour pallete, typography pallete, sub marks, graphics, marketing materials, everything that will visually represent your brand.
Your going to look at all the work you did to hone in on your brand message (your why, vision, mission), and create a visual identity that will best represent it and attract your ideal clients. For example, if you’ve have determined that you want to be portrayed as a high-end luxury brand, you may not want to add cute doodles and playful fonts. You will want to keep to a more sleek design. Not to say your brand can’t be luxurious and fun, you just need be intentional and incorporate the fun part in the right way. When done with intention, your branding is what will attract your ideal clients to your brand. They say you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, but that’s exactly what we do, maybe without even realizing we do it! If your ideal clients are not attracted to your branding, they may never get to know your brand.
When you take your brand message and visuals and put them together, you have one cohesive brand identity that will attract your ideal clients and take your business to a whole new level!
